A International Volunteer Program

Support For Planet

Support For Planet supports a group of volunteers to participate annually in one of Habitat For Humanity’s Global Village international programs. The program allows volunteers to travel abroad and build decent, affordable shelter alongside members of the host country’s local community. Our volunteers, learn about substandard housing, community development challenges and Habitat’s ministry and mission to help eradicate them. The funds raised help build decent shelter in the country our volunteer’s visit and support the Global Village program.

Preserve Affordable Home Ownership

Support For Planet donates to Rebuilding Together, a nonprofit organization devoted to providing critical home repairs to low-income homeowners at no cost to the homeowners. We serve low-income seniors, families, and people with disabilities. Our goal is to make homes warmer, safer, and drier.

Rebuilding Together is the nation’s leading non-profit organization working to preserve affordable homeownership and to revitalize communities. Over 200 Rebuilding Together affiliates operate across the country.

Since 1989 we have mobilized over 20,000 volunteers to repair more than 1,300 homes.  Across the country, more than 7 million low-income homeowners spend over half their income on housing. For these homeowners maintaining a safe and healthy home is an ongoing struggle that forces them to choose between critical home repairs and vital necessities such as food and medicine. Repairs provided by Rebuilding Together enable seniors, families, and people with disabilities to continue to live in their homes in greater safety and comfort.

Help Homeless and Abused Animals

Support For Planet donates to BARCS.  Homeless and abused animals need help, more than 11,000 unwanted, abused and stray animals enter the doors of the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) each year…kittens, puppies, even wildlife and exotic animals. BARCS accepts all animals in need.

Many of the animals BARCS cares for were abandoned or given up by owners who can no longer care for them. Too many animals come to the shelter as victims of abuse or hit and run accidents.

BARCS is working to improve the lives of Baltimore’s homeless animals. BARCS was recognized as a non-profit in July 2005.   Since then BARCS has helped dramatically increase adoptions and rescues, and significantly decreases euthanasia.   And we’ve done all of this on a shoestring budget.   With your help we can do even more.

Relay For Life Southern Montgomery County

Support For Planet donates to The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life movement.  This event symbolizes hope and a shared goal to end a disease that threatens the lives of so many people we love.  The Relay For Life movement is a nationwide effort to fight cancer and celebrate survivorship in our local communities.  The dollars that we donate to the The American Cancer Society bring us one step closer to a world with less cancer and more birthdays, a world where not another life is lost to the disease. This is your opportunity to honor cancer survivors, remember those you have lost, and raise funds and awareness to fight back and help end cancer forever.

What Is Relay?

By supporting Relay For Life, more people in more communities will:

  • Have the information and tools needed to avoid getting cancer or find the disease early
  • Have a place to turn for help 24/7
  • Benefit from the progress being made toward finding cancer’s causes and cures
  • Get access to lifesaving screenings and treatments

Too many people will be touched by cancer this year.  Relay For Life events are an opportunity to inspire hope by raising funds and awareness to help those facing the disease.
